Established in 1979, Floors Northwest, Inc. is a supplier of both
pre-finished and unfinished hardwood floors. We carry only the finest
coatings in the industry. We offer oil modified, waterbase, swedish and
ceramic finishes. Our product offering in abrasives is just as
impressive, names such as 3M Regalite, Norton, Norzon & SIA Abrasives.
We are also a member of the National Wood Flooring Association.

Our History
In
1979 Theodore A. Husom became a distributor for Crawford Laboratories and
founded Florock Northwest as a wholesaler and an installer of floor coatings.
Crawford Laboratories, a supplier of urethane and epoxy coatings, exclusively
distributes its products through a distributor network. Mr. Husom capitalized on
his background in the janitorial supply business to build installation sales of
moisture cured urethanes to companies such as Control Data, Nabisco, Honeywell,
Magnetic Peripherals and Menards. In December 1985, Florock hired Scott Groenke
as a warehouse worker.In August 1986, Mr. Husom hired Mary Sheehan as his General Manager. By the summer of 1987, Mr. Husom had become inactive in Florock’s operations because of lung cancer and he appointed Mary Sheehan as company president.
Juggling both roles of supplier and contractor had become difficult. By late 1987, contractors were refusing to purchase product from a supplier who was competing with them in the marketplace. Ms. Sheehan made the decision to close the installation department in February 1988 and focus the company on distribution sales.
By March 1988, Mr. Husom’s cancer had spread and he was terminally ill. He offered to sell Ms. Sheehan the business and on May 31, 1988, Mr. Husom sold 100 percent of the outstanding stock to Ms. Sheehan. Mr. Husom died on June 4, 1988.
In March 1990, Florock Northwest moved from Eden Prairie to the New Hope/Crystal area. This move provided the company with a facility that was efficient and cost effective to operate; but, a location that was less than desirable for our customers.
In October of 1997 we changed our name to Floors Northwest, Inc. The name change was made to reflect the broad range of products we sell. The company has filed a Certificate of Assumed Name for "Florock Northwest" and that name is occasionally used in connection with our business.
In January of 1999 we moved the warehouse from Crystal to Fridley. The new warehouse is conveniently located at 694 and E. River Road. The access is excellent, the location easy to find and convenient for the customers.
Today, Floors Northwest, Inc. is a leader in value-added selling into the hardwood flooring and concrete coatings market. Our reputation is based on the quality of our service and the integrity of the people of Floors Northwest, Inc.

Floors Northwest is a woman owned business that is certified as a DBE by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Airports Commission and a Targeted Group Business by the Department of Administration.The city of St. Paul, Ramsey County, the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County have also certified Floors Northwest as a small business vendor.
